Katie and the Unicorn

Today we went to the Mat-Su Valley Outdoorsman Show. After walking around and looking at all the booths Katie wanted to get her face painted and get a balloon from the clown. She chose the unicorn design. The reason she doesn't look very happy was because she wanted to get a balloon but we pulled her away to eat lunch first. She did finally get her balloon.

Pinewood Derby 2010

Today was Logan's Pinewood Derby. Here he is with Daddy getting ready for the race to start.

Logan is showing off his cool car. His car didn't place in any of the races but he did win "Best of Show". Congratulations, Logan!
This cool new track was donated to our pack by the good people at BP. This is Pack 338 after the derby was over. I think all the boys and families had a great time.

The Fancy Dinner

When I was trying on the dress I bought for the formal dinner that Ed and I will be having on our cruise this summer Katie told me she knew what dress she was going to wear to the "fancy dinner". We had to tell her that it was only going to be mommy and daddy and she got really sad. She got this beautiful dress for Christmas and she really wanted to wear it to a fancy dinner. Ed decided he would take her out to a fancy dinner so she could wear her dress. Here they are getting ready to go on their "date". (She waited to wear this dress for her dinner)

Bowling

This year for spring break we really didn't do much of anything. The weather was so bad that we stayed home much of the time. We did decide to go bowling one day. Logan wanted to go ice skating but ice skates and I do not get along real well.

Logan is happy to be out of the house and doing something fun. Katie really did have a lot to dance for. She beat us all on the first game. We won't tell her that the bumpers really helped.
YIPPEE! We are almost done and everyone is still smiling. I consider that a huge accomplishment. Ed was working that day so he didn't get a chance to join us. We missed you, Daddy!

Spring Break '09 vs. Spring Break '10

Last year for spring break we took a trip to Ed's family down in Alabama. While we were there we went down to the Florida panhandle for a couple of days. It was so nice. Warm and Sunshine!! Katie loved the beach and she always asks when we can go back to Florida.All of our kids love playing in the water. But, Austin really loves it. He could spend all day at the beach or in a pool.

This year was a little different. At the beginning of spring break we got a lot of new snow. Ed had delayed reporting to work for two days and if that happens in Alaska you know the weather is bad. We decided to take the kids up the mountain and go sledding. This picture was taken a couple days before we got the big snowfall.

Austin's 11th Birthday

For Austin's 11th birthday, Ed and I didn't get much input into what he wanted to do. It ended up just being some friends over to our house for food and fun. We had pizza and wings for dinner. Austin is really into chess, so there was a chess tournament also. At the end of the party they had an hour long nerf gun fight. Let me tell you that 6 11-year old boys in a confined area does not smell very well, but they had a lot of fun. I forgot that they also played the Wii. Here they are receiving instructions from Ed. Austin opening his presents. He loved the football that he got. I think this makes football number 4. You can't have too many, right?

Boy Scouts here we come

Last night was the Cub Scout blue and gold banquet. Since Austin will be 11 on Saturday they decided to advance him to boy scouts last night. Austin received his Webelo's patch, his Arrow of Light, and his religious knot last night. We are so proud of him and he is so excited that he gets to be in boy scouts now.
