First Day of School

The first day of school is usually very exciting around here. The kids are anxious to get back and see all their friends and get another year underway. This year was a little different though. Katie was starting kindergarten. She was so excited she could hardly contain herself. The problem, though, was that she started school a whole week after her brothers. When the first day of school came around she was a little hard to deal with but she mellowed out as the week went by and her first day approached. Her is Austin looking ready for his first day of 5th grade. His last year as an elementary student.
Logan all ready for 3rd grade. He was excited because when you get into 3rd grade you can finally participate in school sponsored atletic activities.
And last but not least. Katie is ready for her first day of kindergarten. She wanted cold lunch just so she could take her new Tinkerbell lunch box.

Tillamook County Fair

If we happen to ever be in Oregon during the first week of August we always try to make it to the fair. The kids absolutely love it. It is small enough to do everything in one day but it will also keep you busy. It is just a great family activity. When we first got there we made our way to the courtyard and they were having an ice cream tasting contest. So, this is Aaron participating in the contest. You had to name the flavor of your ice cream. Aaron came in a close second. He had it easy because his flavor was bubblegum. I tried it with my mom earlier and we kind of worked together to get the right flavor. I ended up winning with my mom's help.
Katie and Logan on the hot air balloon ride. Looks like fun!
Austin and Aleki on the hot air balloon ride. Austin was nice to go on this ride with his friend Aleki.
Katie on the carousel. If the kids had it their way we would have spent the whole day going on rides. We did spend a lot of time at the rides though.
They had a musical act at the courtyard stage and they asked children to come play some instruments with them. My kids jumped right up on that stage. I'm glad to see shyness doesn't run in the family.
Logan, of course, wanted to be a part of every act. So he was once again on stage with the clown. The clown was pretending to pull Logan's underwear off. I think he got a little embarassed at that.
